News about Alfie

Hi folks, I thought I'd update you about Alfie. The x-rays revealed something completely unexpected - that his digestive system was configured wrongly and everything was in the wrong place. The vet asked if she could carry out surgery straight away and warned that it would cost anything up to £1,000, depending on what she found. I told her to do whatever she had to do, and I walked out of the surgery a sobbing mess. I finally got a call about 9:20pm to say that she had found a badly twisted colon that was on the verge of rupturing, although, worryingly, she was unable to determine the cause of his condition, as there was no obvious blockage. She managed to reposition everything but warned me that he was still "a very poorly boy".
I phoned this morning and she was thrilled to inform me that Alfie had done a big poo and, providing he keeps his food down today, he can come home later this afternoon. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life!
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. x x

Alf came home with me last night and curled up in a ball on his favourite chair until this morning. When I got up this morning and offered him a bite to eat, he nearly took my hand off! lol
The final bill at the vets wasn't as bad as anticipated. His whole treatment, surgery, drugs, anaesthetics, hospitalisation, x-rays and overtime charges came to £599, which I was only too happy to pay considering how close I came to losing him. I'm sure he'll be restored to full health very shortly. :-)
