..where I live so my broadband is excruciatingly slow going through bt land lines.I wonder what percentage of the country does have Virgin cable coverage and is there any way of finding out possible plans for extending their coverage.Thanks for any help

Don't expect in rural or village areas!
Any broadband has to be a lot better than dial-up tho.

Three is good on dongle - and pretty quick thats what I use on the canal - but it all depends on coverage for your area

I think BT coverage is good/bad depending on where you live, I had no choice but to use virgin where I live now as my internet connection on BT was virually non existant.

if you cant get cable consider a dongle, though for my area orange coverage is shockingly poor, so check out mobile coverage areas and read reviews before you commit.

Hello,
Rather than opening a different post, I was wondering whether I could hijack this one.
When I moved house 2 years ago, BT were unable to reconnect my landline: my flat is in a new building, so the flat does not exist in BT's database, and they did not know how to 'create' it. I had 3 appointments with BT engineers, each time they called to say they had been sent to a new building.
My neighbours had similar experiences. So even though we have phone sockets in the flats, and a walk-in cupboard on the landing with phone cables, we could not get the phone with BT, or Talk Talk (since there was existing BT line) or anyone else.
What made me particularly angry is that before signing the rental agreement, I called BT and checked with them that they would be able to reconnect my landline. The (very nice) lady from their call centre just cocked up!
With Virgin Media, as far as the cable is concerned, the building is not serviceable: if we had an existing phone line, they could provide us with broadband through the phone line...
I could get Sky (I couldn't initially), but as I want to change jobs and move to another town asap, it's just not worth it.
I've been making do with mobile broadband (40 kbs at best, as I'm in the city centre - slower than dialup in the old days) and wifi at the library.
How I'm looking forward to that new flat with broadband internet!
