Yes, at this time of year the gradient of the boundary means quite a difference in darkness between south England and us here in Edinburgh
Remember those days well stokey !
The 4 hour football match, the all day cricket only finishing when no-one could see the ball.!
Halycon days indeed.
Regards dg. PS Love to LL.
It`s true, you could sit outside on the doorstep talking to your neighbours. Then again there was nothing much else to do.
Jumpers as goalposts, white dog poo, chopper bikes, hanging on the back of the ice cream van for half a mile..ahhh the memories

lol dfg and harry...and arguing whether the ball was ''in'' or ''over'' will do dfg ll is here now and growing by the day..thank you..
I can remember an evening last year when it was still light at 10pm.
And I was in bed!!!!
It probably doesn't seem to stay light so late because you go to bed later than you did when you were a child.
It's all Thatcher's fault.

that could be a point sherrard...but i used to love my carefree days as millions of us do..playing football, climbing trees, playing cricket..being a boy..great days...
I used to love the summer - you'd only see your parents for meals, they never asked where you were going and you never thought to tell them.

thats right sherrard...we used to live right next door to our local park with miles of fields just behind,my mates used to call for me and my brothers at 9 in the morning and we used to play for hours and hours, swinging on rope swings over brooks, playing football, cricket and the like no one used to bother us and we never vandalised anyones property..just good kids fun...sounds a bit like enid blytons ''famous five'' books i know but we did have a good childhood...
I've just come in from watering the vegetable patch and it felt pretty light out there still. I think your eyes get used to it if you stay out until you can hardly see like you used to when you were a kid. :-)

I should try having a game of cricket one evening Stokey and see if you can drag yourself indoors even though you can't really see the ball anymore!
