Is there anything intrinsically wrong in eating human flesh, (if you need a qualifier to make the question more, ahem, palatable [though i did say "intrinsically"] then let's say "If you were starving and the person was already dead" though for the purity of the question i'd rather leave that out...

Its been done, on numerous occasions, most carnivores eat their own kind, and i'm sure that if you were literally 'dying of hunger', and someone was freshly dead, most people would turn cannibal.

Because humans carry pathogens that are capable of infecting other humans there is an increased risk of infection through consumption. This can be both from mundane bacteria or the more exotic. For example before BSE ever came to prevelance, in New Guinea the locals indulged in mortuary canabalism this resulted in a prionic degenerative disease called Kuru, which particularly infected the children and women who were given the brain tissue as part of the ritual causing a illness very similar to CJD.

Instead of making the question more palatable maybe you should use sweet and sour sauce and make the meat more palatable.

so, remember eg "the ethiopian famine" ? d'you reckon this went on there/then? clearly you've got people starving to death - it's that critical - and so you're in a similar situation and you have fresh (though barely hearty) pickings around you...

d'you think it's because they're part of your family or clan that you wouldn't eat them, or because there are onlookers and it becomes a social clench?
