Am toying with the idea of obtaining a treadmill. Can anyone on AB give me advice and also what type, price ect. I would like to remind you that I am 78 yrs. old
with Diabetes, but am quite healthy and try to walk at least 3 miles a day. I know that sounds to be sufficient, but there are days when one cannot spare the time or the weather is inclement.I would stress that I am only thinking about this.

Try your local JJB Sports store. They should (Ha ha) give you a full demonstration and let you try them out.
There's two different types - manual incline and electronic incline. The manual incline is only a few degrees of steepness. The electronic versions can go to 10 or 12 degrees and can get up to 12mph. The motirised versions are a lot bigger, so you may want to take that into consideration when locating it.
You'll also want someone to give you a hand to put it together.

Just to let you know my views on this one, I have had a non motorised treadmill for years and it has hardly been used, apart from hanging washing on :). I can walk for miles outside on flat ground, but because of the incline on this treadmill, obviously needed to get some motion going, even on the flattest incline allowed, I still find that it causes pain in my calf muscles and I cannot walk for any longer than 5 mins at the most, it is also very heavy and takes up a lot of room, even in the folded up position. So if you decide to get one, if finances will allow as these are more expensive, maybe look at a motorised version and check out the weight and size. Good for you in wanting to stay active and healthy.
