I recently took delivery of a leather jacket but the collar is very creased can anyone suggest a way of removing them without damaging it, would steaming it do any harm?

I wouldn't steam it myself as the heat will make it crease even more, just get it damp using a mister and smooth until it is the desired shape then let it dry naturally.

Thank you very much, I'll give it a go
Leather will relax more if it's warm, try putting it in the sun and smoothing it out.
If you have only recently taken delivery, send it back and demand a better replacement or money back.
Shouldn't this be in Gardening?
Lol
Spreeny, I tend toward Hopkirk's opinion on this.
A creased or crinkled appearance on part of a leather garment can be because the maker has used inferior, thin 'belly leather'. Typically, they wouldn't use it on a very visible part (ie, the front or back panels), but smaller areas such as collar and sleeves are fair game. I imagine they can save quite a lot of manufacturing costs over thousands of jackets in this way.
You're right ClareA what I was describing would only work properly if the leather was of high quality in the first place like something made by Aero Leathers, Eastman leathers and the like. I agree with Hopkirk aswell if it's new send it back rather than wetting it because if you do and it doesn't work they may not take it back.
