I broke my wrist six weeks ago. I had the plaster off today, but the wrist is still quite painful, not where I broke it, but in other places. Is this normal? (broke the scaphoid bone)

Surely the clinical instructions for your follow up were: Plaster off, x-ray on arrival? Did they re x-ray your wrist?
I was amazed at how painful my wrist was after removal of plaster, too. I assumed - plaster off - all OK. Not so and it was painful for some time after - weeks if I remember.

Hi NoMercy. yes they did Xray my wrist, and the consultant showed me where the bone had healed. They did not find any other breaks
Supposing you don't have mal-union, non-union or displacement of the fracture, you may still be tender over the fractue site and your Orthopaedic Consultant should refer you to physio to begin range of movement exercises.
yes - I had physio for some weeks

I broke my wrist in two places, beginning of May
Plaster taken off within a month and yes it has been very sore. No follow up was given only exercises to do at home.
A long way from better as in flexibility, and strength. Still sore and misshapen but each day it is getting much better, I was driving in 6 weeks.
Yes....you forearm has now got to adapt to normal function without the plaster cast and this may take weeks.
No big deal.
bobbie22 - hope the recovery goes well - keep up the exercises they really do work.
