If you do choose salmon please avoid the farmed salmon and choose wild salmon. It need not be any more expensive and is far healthier. Most supermarkets sell frozen wild salmon fillets - Tesco often sell a pack of 8 for £5, as an example.
You won't get that nasty white stuff oozing out of it, it is far less flabby and much tastier.
You can also buy tinned wild salmon.
Wild salmon has more of the good oils, farmed salmon has less good oils and more bad fat.
