Purchasing School Uniform
10 Answers
I've bought the obligatory parts of the uniform (with school badge) for our 4 year old who is starting school in September, however, can you recommend the best place to purchase a skirt, pinafore dress and polo shirts please? I've noticed that M&S, Asda, Tesco, etc all sell them, however, we will have to travel to these stores as I would like our daughter to try them on for size.
Which store would you recommend I buy the rest of the uniform from please?

Sainsburys polo shirts are nice, but the best I have had came from Adams - now only available on-line with a very limited range. M&S polo shirts tend to shrink - are pretty neat to begin with and once they have shrunk, they just feel a bit thick. The Next polo shirts are okay, but we have to have sky blue and theirs are a bit of a weird shade. Haven't tried Tesco's polo shirts as our local one only stocks white which is no use to me.
Awww bless, 4 years and starting school in September! (Take me back quite a few years) I found Asda's George range to be value for money in both polo shirts and trousers. (Eventually they stocked jumpers of a colour suitable for school-wear) Everything washed well, didn't go out of shape nor lose colour.
Brenda - that story you told of the school blazer made me smile! My Dad would only ever buy clothes that were a few sizes too big for us and preferably in a unisex design so that they would last for as long as possible. I remember having to wear a heavy duffel coat in the winter that was then passed down to my brother who was 3 years younger (I'm a lass). I used to hate the heavy garment with its thick, hard-to-do-up wooden buttons and distinctly unfashionable look. Now I see students wearing the expensive coat and looking great (and fashionable). How times have changed.................x
