I have had an ongoing neck problem for 18 months. The consultant wont operate as it's too risky, the physio did nothing except made it worse and the pain killers are not working either.

But someone has suggested smoking a joint in the evening for medicinal purposes only. I'm obviously pretty aprehensive about this although i used to smoke a bit of weed when i was younger and working shifts in order to make me sleep better.

So does anyone use cannabis for pain relief only. Do you use it in any other way except smoking (i gave up 2 years ago and don't really want to start again)

Also, what would you use....grass, resin ????

Please don't feel obliged to reply...i appreciate both the legal and moral consequences

hi andy, I have fibromyalgia, and I smoke weed every evening, (not as a pain relief as such, i just smoke weed) anyway a few months ago, i didnt smoke for about 3 or 4 days, and the pain was unbelievable (it still hurts when i do smoke, i just didnt realise the weed kept it at bay so much)  I just smoke resin as stuff like skunk gives me a real bad migraine.

You could smoke weed in a pipe, or if you can get your hands on the oil or butter some people make from it you could put it in muffins etc. At least that way you wont have the nicotine. I would avoid soap bar if I were you it tends to have a lot of rubbish in it. Best going with it at its purest. Hope you feel better soon x

You should ask your doctor about it. He could advise you on the best way to take it, and if you do it above board you won;t feel like you are doing anything wrong.

My neighbour used to smoke weed for pain relief as he had MS. It was prescribed for him.

I did think of having an "off the record" chat with my Dr just to see what his opinions were.

My other problem would be driving whilst under the influence....doesn't cannabis stay in your blood for a few weeks ???
it does stay in your system for a while, I certainly wouldnt drive straight after smoking it but most people the following day are fine. If you feel any way wooly obviously you shouldnt. But the effects only last a couple of hours at most. Speak to your GP and see what he says
I have an ongoing back problem i had a disc removed and have often thought of using cannabis ,the trouble is i have mentioned it to my wife and she takes a dim view of it ,she thinks i just want to try for recreational purposes ,also i am quite old and have not got a clue where i could get any,it is not as if i can just walk into my local and ask the barman for the best dealer in there .of course i am not asking you all to tell me how to get it i am sure if i was determined i could get some.but if you do try it andy could you let me know if it helps ?i may then take the plunge regardless of the wife.best of luck.

Of course i will Jacko....i've got to ask about for some myself, i've got a few mates who smoke it so it shouldn't be a problem.

I've also heard you can sprinkle it into coffee or make a cake with it so you don't have to chug away on a dirty great spliff

my friend uses it for pain relief and adds it as a "special" ingredient to her cakes although it is expensive as 1 -8th only makes 2 small cakes but i am told it is excellent. but i do think that there is a manufactured medicine on prescription so ask your doctor if it might be approprate in your case
