If it was bought when they first came out then yes it could have, when Sony first brought 32" wide screen CT TVs they were about £2500,even today some 40" tvs can be more than £2000.
I don't get anyone spending £2k on an unattractive looking thing that spouts mainly garbage.

when i saw the first plasma tv in Kendals Manchester in the 90s it was a Japanese make that's long gone it was around a 36" and was priced at £13.000

lol, no - I gave him the option of

1) try and agree amicably and share out what we've got between us or
2) fight like cat and dog and share out what we've got between the lawyers.

Thankfully common sense prevailed..........
