Back to School Start Date
13 Answers
This is a bit of a long shot but it is worth a try! Is there anyone out there that knows the actual date children return to school. I am most particularly interested in Newham schools in London - Stratford School in Forest Gate specifically. I would have thought 5th September, being the Monday, but it has been the case when they have gone back earlier and I got it wrong then. I would be grateful for anyone's thoughts.

Many thanks Sunflower68. I wouldn't have looked at that letter otherwise. I would have just turned up at 8.30 am with my son. As it is his first year there I see it is an 11 am start. It looks a bit ridiculous to me with the rest of the school starting in the afternoon. Still I suppose it gives the new starters a chance to settle in, perhaps. Thanks again for looking into it for me.
Thank you for that Sunflower. I wasn't aware of any such service, but that is not to say that it doesn't exist! I will certainly look into it with this new school. I am dreading this change anyway. My son has ASD and is more like a 6 year old than an 11 year old. It's hard to know how he is going to cope with such an upheaval. At least he is making the move with the majority of his former class and year mates which was why it was so important to get him to this particular school. I am sure he will surprise me, as he always manages to, with how well he will actually cope!
ozzy I do feel for you it must be such a worry and so daunting.. I work in special needs education and can understand your concerns; it's all a bit of a minefield anyway but I do hope you get plenty good support from SENCO at your lad's new school. They can be so supportive, don't hesitate to make yourself known to them if you have worries.
My youngest is going to year 7 too in Sept; just picked up her new uniform today!

Hello Sunflower. Good luck to your little girl who is starting 'Big School' this year. I am sure she will be fine, as will be Daniel. I think I was just 'thinking aloud'. One thing I did notice from the 'Letter to Parents' was that the Special Needs Co-ordinator, Ms Khan, was moving on. She was so nice as well. I am sure that whoever has taken the role over is equally as nice. I must get on to that. You obviously do a fine job working within Special Needs - I would have been lost without their support over the years.
