Always Elvis but also Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee lewis and lots of other American singers from the sixties.

Sorry Erin but no. You cannot compare the American Rock'n'rollers to the British. I was a teenager when rock'n'roll came to Britain from America. They had Elvis, we had Cliff doing a poor impression. They had Eddie Cochrane, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Fats Domino, too many to mention.We had Tommy Steele, Marty Wilde, etc, no comparison.The first best group we had were the Beatles but things seemed to change after that from Rock and Roll to Pop.

My favourite was Buddy Holly, who also wrote a lot of his songs. But don't forget Little Richard who really got people on the dance floor and Chuck Berry's Johnny B Good had the same effect.

The jive was all the rage, if you couldn't jive to it, it wasn't rock'n'roll.As a teenager I used to go jiving at the Ritz in Manchester in my dinner hour and my friend and I would jive like crazy to Sandy Nelson's 'Let there be drums' We were knackerd when we got back to work!!

Jools Holland named Jerry Lee Lewis as his best piano player of all time. A brilliant example to prove him right is the JLL version of 'Me and Bobby McGee' which can be found by searching for him on YouTube. Rock'n'Roll at it's absolute best.
