Apprenticeship qualifications
5 Answers
Hi there, my husband is a time served apprentice with an apprenticeship certificate, engineering craftsman 1989 and City and guilds engineering/craft studies part 1. City and guilds engineering/craft studies part 2, plus 22 years in the industry. He's recently applied for a new job and was told he needed HNC or equivalent qualifications. Can anyone advise if his engineering craftsman certificate is the equivalent please? I've trawled the internet but can't really make sense of it all and none of the answers seem to take into account his apprenticeship was 20 years ago and not a modern one. Many thanks

Sorry chaschat - misunderstood your original question. Really seems to be a bit of a grey area when looking at equivalent qualifications - i.e. when they were obtained etc. Would have thought recent training / knowledge would be more relevant. I would apply and let prospective employer decide whether to interview on strength of CV and current skills matching those of job description
