canyou re-fix your website please
10 Answers
I joined this website some years ago and on joining found two annoying things: firstly you could not keep track of a topic as there no way of subscribing, secondly I got fed up with getting emails telling me that I had replied to my own topic (I mean DUUUUHHHH !). I put both of these point forward in this section of the website and after some emails between myself and the then AB editor he/she understood what I was trying to explain and the improvements were put into place.
However recently we have gone backwards, while the answerbank has had some attempts at a make over that have only made it worse than it originally was we now are getting emails again to tell you that you have answered your own topic. What The Funicular ?

I don't always get an email about replies (and I just delete them anyway)but there are some ways to avoid them:
1) arrange for Answerbank emails to go directly into the SPAM folder
2) change your email address on AB to a spare or new disposable email address that you never/rarely use. That way you won't see the emails

Do NOT do this. Every time someone does this it reduces our chance of getting through to you - and anyone else using the same email service. Please create a filter on your incoming mail and direct email from us to a separate folder. This way it's there for reference, doesn't hurt our relationship with email providers, and doesn't get in the way of your normal email activities.
You shouldn't get emails about your own question, assuming you've viewed it on the page after posting. If you've immediately clicked to a different thread it sometimes confuses the system and you'll be alerted to your own response.
We hope to improve the system further in the coming months however.

Yep, it is annoying. It seems to be a little bit temperamental when it comes to working out who you are on the thread.
You should receive emails Factor. Add "[email protected]" as a safe sender and you'll be sure to get them in the future (unless you're always looking at the subscribed thread, in which case the system doesn't email you).

the thing is this was all working ok once, what happened, yes the momnent I hit the send button an email hits my inbox to tell me that "someone" (me !) has left a reply.
My I suggest that the AB just use one of the many available proven and tested forum softwares instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, and not very well by the look of it ;)
