keeping fuschias

I have some lovely fuschias this year is it possible to keep them over the winter? If yes can anyone tell me how?

Mine have been outside for 30+ years and never had any protection. Try covering them with straw or shredded paper or make a polythene cloche

thanks John I have some hardy ones outside they are ok but others do not survive the winter.

If they are planted out in the garden dig them up and put into pots with some fresh compost. Do you have a greenhouse? If not a windowsill will do.
When the leaves start to die off, cut the stems back to about a couple of inches long. Water them very occasionally over the winter, then increase watering in early spring, they should start shooting from the base or low down on the stems.

thanks slinkycat going to try that such a waste every year. they are all in my patio tubs and baskets.

I take `Tip Cuttings` at the end of summer and keep them indoors to save the one`s that are a little temperamental. I put as many as I can in a cut down 4pint plastic milk bottle in wet vermiculite and keep covered with a opaque sandwich bag for a few weeks, then re-pot each one in a 3" pot.
