i think its about 160 packets or 16 cartons per person
You can't buy duty free from Spain if you have only travelled there from the UK because you haven't left the European Europe. However you can buy cigarettes from Spain with duty paid and bring them back for personal consumption. The guideline is that any more than 800 cigarettes is likely to raise questions. See this link http://www.hmrc.gov.u...riving/arrivingeu.htm
3,800 packets of cigarettes
Ooops I mean 3,800 ciggies. And they are half price as to what you pay in England.
To make it more difficult, the Canary Islands are not regarded as being EU territory as far as these allowances are concerned.

Since October 1st, the limit is reduced to 800 cigarettes if coming from mainland Spain (or anywhere else in the EU). From the Canaries and any non-EU area it's 200.
800 cigs from mainland Spain - the theory being that if you bring back more, it's possible that it's not for personal use.
netibiza - they lowered the limit at the start of October so its only 800 now.
I didn't know that, luckily I am not a smoker. Thanks, it was a bit ridiculous.
My daughter brought me back 1000 ciggies in August. She was told that she Could bring back 3500.
