do men like helpless women?

Do men like women when they are helpless? might be a silly question, but still. i'm really independent, confident and do everything for myself and always have. but lately i've started to realise that my friends that attract men are the helpless ones, it's almost like the men love being needed!! in these days of blurred gender roles, should a women forget her indepenence and act a little helpless? answers please.

that's possible Grace. But don't get too carried away categorising people (men who like victims/men who are scared of strong women...) when what you're looking for is an individual that suits you. Leave the men who want to be boss to the women who want to be bossed. When you find someone you like, make sure he sees the real you. Of course it still may not work; but ultimately there's no point pretending to be someone you're not - if it worked in catching a man, you'd feel you had to be that person forever.

Sorry to join your thread late, but i just wanted to say you don't need to try and be anything to get yourself a fella. Although you are very independant, you also seem to be lacking a little self confidence. Not all guys want someone to hang on there every word and take instructions around the house, I know I'd much rather have someone who knew their own mind. All the best relationships are the ones where both people work together, not one just following the others orders. Be happy in yourself that you know your own mind. And if no one has snapped you up by the end of the year, give me a call ! ;o)

once again thanks for the comments. i agree that i probably am lacking some self confidence; but then isn't everyone?! And anyway there's a fine line between confidence and arrogance!!

it's nice to have a male view as well. i seem to be surrounded by either gay men, or male friends that would like to be more and therefore never give me good advice when it comes to relationships. funny that, a lot of my male friends end up expressing some kind of desire for me (which raises the other issue as to whether men and women can ever just be friends!!); yet i appear to have issues when it comes to meeting guys in other situations. maybe that is a clear indication that i should just be myself completely!!!
