Less info than last time, but did anyone read a book similar to Mary Poppins about 15 years ago? A woman started looking after 3 children-only remember the start-she joined the library, then realised she had no money, and messed around with cashpoint,using library card, and getting hundreds of pounds, free-the little girl was scared all the way home, expecting Police to arrest them all-the next day woman messed with traffic lights, but can't rmember any of rest of the book-maybe my son didn't want anymore-but I avidly read anything, so probably just forgotton. I won't be surprized if no replies-but worth a shot. TIA

Not 100% sure (been looking at island books on web) but hopefully will jog someones memory-although it was planet, not island- the word Eigg was in the book-she was banquished there-so maybe she was a witch-I don't know why I remember start so wee, but not title or auther-been looking (AGES) at 'books like this' under Mary Poppins on 2 sites, but nothing like it-I think pb cover was her and kids. I remember at the time of reading it to son(90's) I hadn't heard of author, so possibly a first book that wasn't popular?
