Is the pioneer A05 x4 speed the same unit as the 105 x4 speed? Is the difference in the software bundled with it? If so, which is the best to go for?

The difference between the two models is indeed the bundled software + packaging. One is the OEM version which is simply a drive in anti-static wrapper, the other is a fully boxed and branded unit complete with sample media and working software.
