I have recently ended a nearly 10 yr relationship. I'm 45 and am starting to think about dating. I joined an online dating site and some men on there have openly said they are just looking for sex. I don't know how I feel about this. Doesn't it make all parties just feel sad at the end of the day? I really don't know if this is the "norm" now?

but boxtops what makes sex special is not frequency or lack of it...its the feelings between the 2 people.

i dont see how you can say a girl who has been with a few other guys cant therefore have meaningful sex with her beloved...

its the person and the circumstances that make it special - not the act itself

with some you feel ok... maybe there is a bit of a spark... just don't convince yourself its love at first sight.... would have gladly booked a hotel the first date with a certain gentleman...but glad we waited a while as by then we were so 'hungry' for each other......

Ok....so how safe would it be....if I were to go with the side that argues that it's ok to do this on a first date.....where would you go? to theirs? how can you tell they're not a nutter? I couldn't have anyone back to mine as I've moved into a flatshare and my flatmate wouldn't like it I don't think!

It depends on the individual & what they think. Personally I'm of the old fashioned type that likes to get to know someone before getting intimate, but times change & so do attitudes.

If two people are free & it's what they want & prefer, then that's their choice. Some people just don't want all the fuss that goes with dating.

One of my ex's admitted to me that he did have a lot of respect for me for making him wait. He said that if any girl offered it to him on the first night then he would take it. His attitude was if she didn't have any respect for herself, then why should he.
