Well, as it is a biological molecule it is made of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen. Basically it a molecule of glucose (hence the start of the name) with an amine groupd (NH2) stuck on one of the carbons in the ring. A lot of the glucosamine sold is actually a salt - either sulphide or chloride.

Garya, are you referring to products sold under the name Glucosamine which are for joint treatment in horses, dogs and humans ? Is so these are advertised as containing no sugar, starch, artificial colour, flavouring or preservatives. What they do contain is glucosamine itself, yucca, omega 3 fatty aacids, vitamin C, chelated copper, zinc and manganese. There is such a variety of products sold with the name Glucosamine using different suffixes or prefixes. They all contain slightly different ingredients. A google search will educate you more if this information is not sufficient.
