After being hassled for weeks, today I took Mrs MM to Lidl. What a waste of time and petrol. We both thought what a rubbish shop it was. We have Asda, Tesco and Morrisons within 5 miles. So now she knows what a rubbish shop it is we can get back to normal. Phew.

Micmak, it really does depend what sort of food you like - and I would go to Aldi (which is related to Lidl) many times before I would set foot in our local cr@ppy ASDA.
We love the German cold meats and prepared salads from Aldi - their veg is always fresh and cheap - I use their washing powder, their cranberry juice is better than anywhere else, and in the summer, their version of Pimms (Austins) you can't tell the difference and it's half the price. Their frozen Christmas meats and fish are superb - we had the three bird roast and the salmon last year, excellent value for money.

Agree piggynose ..when you go them in Germany it's a different ball game .
Here they tend to cater for the British taste in food .
Lidls Schwartzbrot is as dry as a nuns whatnot but Aldis is lovely .
They used to be cheap as chips but with the currency fluctuations as they are they're really no cheaper these days on some of the stuff .Especially what they import .
Aldis Super Six veg is good value and Lidl have nice veg too .I think Aldi display it better .
As I said it's a case of pick ond choose .

Aldi was originally founded by Karl and Theo Albrecht
Lidl were owned by somene called Schwartz .He bought the name from someone called Ludwig Lidl because he couldn't have called it Schwarz Markt ..because that means ..black market ..Mwahahaha!

I've tried quite a lot of food from Lidl as my parents shop there but I'm not impressed.

prefer ALDI 3 bird roast is fab....lidl good for chocolate..
