when i release the clutch i can hear a rattling noise halfway through pedal travel. no problem getting gears or no slipping of clutch. car is okay apart from rattle. anyone got any clues to what it might be.

Rattling or Juddering through car?

Rattling 'might' be a finger of the cover plate fracturing or already broken ..
You need to get on a ramp and listed carefully at bell-housing while clutch is being operated (with handbrake hard on!)
