Just to be clear, I do not see this as being "Conservative, Labour or Liberal" or necessary a religious thing either, though I do believe that the demos have also shown the frailty of the CofE in all of this (and several other social issues) and the lack of leadership by Williams. I do hope that they appoint more of a "firm revolutionary" such as Tom Wright, ex B of Durham and recently Prof of Divinity at St Andrews.....but they don't have the balls.

You're bang on, Dt - There are always people who want to smash the existing setup before thinking what to do afterwards.
They should take lessons from history - French, Russian and American revolutions did not produce a fair society. People rise to the top through fair or unfair means - look at Abramovitch!
