thanks brian, had a feeling it was football related!
Not forgetting that it was popularised by Welsh "comedian" Max Boyce in the 1970's - which is presumably where it made its way into rugby grounds.
we were shouting this at a west country skool in the late sixties....
And down 'ere we've made it Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!
