What is your checklist - things you look for in a partner before you would consider them seriously? I am interested in what the differences are between men's and women's. For example, I asked my Dad this and he said that he thinks the thing that is most important to a woman is having a "reliable husband". Hahah!

Very true ummmm. Gary and I had "known" each other for years but never really had a proper conversation before but as soon as we did I was smitten. Can't say if it was the same for him but we got married three months later, so assuming it was. :-)
Sounds like it was :-)
Having reached my 6th decade (just) of such assessments I can narrow it down now to only a few criteria. The chemistry is simply a given or I am not turned on full stop, but for anything more, ie a conversation afterwards, then the company has to be adequate. No sense of humour once killed an otherwise ideal relationship long ago, so essential, and simply the ability to have a conversation and be tolerant and not tell me what to do or where to go.

I've met plenty who qualify, but only a few who thought I did as well and their families or sheer distance killed them before they lasted or even began. But at least I know and can recognise exactly what works for me.
