Possibly not better off for saving all your life anyway. Spend spend spend, and then claim when your rainy day comes. Or else you'll find it's go without, scrimp, save, for years, then when the time comes have the authorities insist you have to use what you have no matter that it was you and folk like you who contributed to the public pot all those years. What a bunch of suckers. Personal savings etc. ought to be set at a very high level before it bars you from claiming or else the incentives are all wrong, and the morality questionable. If you are in the same situation then you should be entitled to the same as the next citizen. Costs less to administer that way anyway.

They should 'cap' benefits regardless how large the household, if one cannot afford a large family, then they should refrain from having more children, why should the state be responsible for them?

Having said that, the government should also bring out measures that 'cap' the amount of rent charged by landlords.

Then why stop at that, they should also 'cap' the price of fuel.

Someone who has no intention of EVER working and makes a CAREER out of living on benefits.

I live in a house worth about £250,000 which I worked all my life to own (mortgage paid off).

Just up the road from me are a few houses owned by the council (bought after the war when the buildier could not sell the houses).

One couple (and their children) have lived in one council house as long as I have lived in mine (20 years) and neither the husband or wife have EVER worked.

Can you imagine how p**sed off I am that they live in roughly the same house as me, and while I worked for 30 years to own mine, they live in theirs having never done a days work for 20 years.

VHG, yes i can see how peed off you are, as much as i get by being bludgeoned with the same hammer, if you tell someone you are not working, they look at you like you are dirt underneath a shoe, and i am just not going to keep on explaining why i don't now. It fairs effs me off quite frankly.

At the moment I get 135 pounds per fortnight in Job seekers allowance and I get the rent paid on my bedsit which is 500 pounds per month. Anyone out there who thinks I've 'got it made' can change places anytime the want.
