When I finally summoned up the courage to tell her what an atrocious mother she was, she finally took stock of her behaviour.
She is a completely different person now and I finally feel like I have a proper relationship with her.
Do not allow your mother to keep destroying your confidence.

Oh, Tinks :-(
My mother used to say really hurtful things to me, when I was a teenager. I don't think they realise what an impact it has, I really don;t.
Mine used to mock me on my weight... it lead to an eating disorder and a lifetime of "issues" with food and my weight.
I honestly think a lot of it's to do with their own self esteem and jealousy.
I know it's easy for others to say, but just ignore it chick.
Go listen to some Steps (yes, I really did just say that) and have a good look in the mirror.
You're a beautiful young girl.... :-) xx

tinkerbell Is your Mum depressed ? I mean clinical depression not just in a bad mood ?
That sounds like the sort of thing people say because they are suffering from depression.
My OH has severe depression and that is the type of remark she would make to me, I get over it as I know it is a symptom of her illness.
