Best email service?

I've only ever used Hotmail or Yahoo for my personal email addresses. However I now need to set one up for work. Should I just continue using Hotmail and set up a new email address on it or are there any better sites? Are there any problems that may arise using Hotmail for a work email address. If not I would rather just use it as I know the workings of it.

I've been using GMX for a while, with no problems. It allows you to send large attachments. It can also be used either through a web interface or via an email client (such as Outlook Express, Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail):

Yeah albags, probably Eircom but I'm not 100% sure, just started. Are you suggesting using their email service? Now that I think of it perhaps I should have mentioned I'm in Ireland so probably should use a .ie or .com email address.

I use o2-find it looks a bit more 'grown up' having a @o2.co.uk at the end instead of hotmail.com.

I've never had any problems with it so far.

Get the most out of your ISP .. if it's business. There are probably features you can obtain that you couldn't have with an aftermarket.

.. and it's all very well having 50mb attachment size .. but who can receive them? Someone with another email service with them.

I've no idea on good service as I'm with tiscali (!!) however I was going to say the same as B00, there's something a bit fly-by-night about a professional e-mail address using hotmail.

Thanks Albags, all suggestions welcome. I will have a look at my options tomorrow. I'm not too bothered about the large attachment side of things. Just one that is not going to be full of adverts and stupid links and stuff. Also if it was an easy address to remember it would be a bonus.

I think Hotmail still delete accounts if they haven't been used for a month (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), which is excellent for throwaway accounts but a possible nuisance if you're ill or out of touch for a few weeks. I find Gmail better, though their robots read your mail and offer you the occasional ad.

A downside to using an ISP's email is that if a year or 2 down the line you decide that you can get a cheaper connection from another company and so you change your ISP then that mailbox will no longer be available to you and so you will have to inform all your contacts that your email address has changed.

I always feel having a 'HOTMAIL' address doesnt come across as very profesional, probably a throw back to a few years ago when all the dodgy chat rooms were around.
As said there are others out there which look far more credible.
