We are told that obesity is costing the NHS billions as it is one of the causes of diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. Have just got back from my local General Hospital and was amazed by the huge number of seriously overweight staff working there. You'd think they should know better.
what I hate the most is the entry to the A&E or the outpatients etc where all the smoking inmates congregate to smoke and you have no option but to walk through this thick fugg to go about your business. What is the point of the NHS spending billions trying to cure people who just won give up the fags.
I agree McM, when in hospital too I noticed a large proportion of the staff were overweight, mainly the younger traning staff. Although lovely caring people doing an excellant job.
This euphemism......"overweight".....the excess is "FAT"....these people are "FAT".............nothing wrong ethically in being fat....just a a medical disadvantage.
mcmouse, one thing about that if they live locally to the hospital, then they haven't got far to go to get treatment, seems bizarre doesn't it, same as being lectured by politicians to tighten our belts, financially speaking, then you see them throw money around like confetti. Double standards prevails. That's why i stopped listening to these so called experts, when they do it, i will.
The whole topic amuses me. Some months ago, following cardiac surgery, I was advised by a humungous physiotherapist to lose some weight and get more exercise.
Soon "fat" will become the norm and we will see a procession of "fatties" being loaded onto buses in their wheelchairs, because they are too obese to walk!
Have a another burger?!
myhubby had to see the dietician attached to the diabetic clinic at our local hospital, when he revisited she had a go at him and said he wasnt trying hard enough to which he replied - you can talk you have also put on weight since I saw you last - she refused to see him anymore !
If I was sent to see a dietician who was overweight, it wouldn't give me a great deal of confidence in them.
I'm the same at the hairdressers. If all the hairdressers have horrible haircuts, I really want to walk out.
