I apologise to all those who have previously helped me over this, but I am still experiencing problems.
I am operating on Vista and my version of Audacity is 1.3 Beta (unicode)
When I open Audacity and press Edit/preferences I get a box called 'Audacity Preferences', down the L/H side of this box are the following:
Devices MP3 Export Library
Playback MP3 Library Version Lame 3.98.3
Recording MP3 Library "Download"
Quality
Interface
Tracks Extended Import
Projects FFMPEG import/export library
Libraries FFMPEG library version FFMEPG library not found
Spectrograms FFMPEG library "Locate"
Directories FFMPEG library "Download"
Warnings
Effects
Keyboard OK Cancel
Mouse
Can anyone please tell me what to do please, no rude answers please, :0)

ou don't need to do anything with the file.
When you go to produce an mp3 with Audacity, it will ask you for the location of the file. Once Audacity knows where it is it will use it in the future.
Alternatively, you can tell Audacity where to find it right now.
In Audacity, click Edit/Preferences
On the left click Libraries
On the right, next to mp3 library, click locate
Click browse and locate the lame_enc.dll
Click it and then click Open
Click OK
Click OK
You will find the lame_enc.dll file in the folder
C:\Program Files\Lame For Audacity

I'm using Audacity 1.3.13 beta (unicode), which can't be much different from the one you've got. If you click Libraries on the L/H side of Audacity Preferences, what do you get? On mine, there is a button for "Mp3 Library, Locate...." to click. If you have saved the previously downloaded Lame_enc.dll on your computer, you can find it from there. Otherwise, try clicking the DOWNLOAD button next to where it says "Lame Mp3 Library" (which I haven't done before). Maybe you can download a version of that Lame library which will be compatible to your version of Audacity. Good luck.... :)
