I have windows vista on my laptop and have windows media player + 'powercinema' installed. I downloaded a film from filestube for the first time yesterday (slow download 3hours) = Tinker_Tailor_Soldier_Spy_2011_XViD (C\users\bob\music\playlists). When download finished it did'nt let me save the file, but placed it straight into media player. I receive the following error message:- 'Windows cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or the codec that was used to compress the file' I have placed a shortcut of the file on my desktop. Have I wasted 3 hours? Or can I play film/burn to disc please?
Thanks
Bob

I guess you need the xvid codec.

Note you HAVE saved the file on your hard disk, so it is not "in media player".

Media player is just an application for viewing and playing media files, and it does not "contain" this file. Note there are loads of different media players.

The file is still acessable in the folder structure you listed so could be played by any media player.
