playing dvd on computer
7 Answers
Hi All.
I am using windows media player to try to play a dvd, but although it seems to go through the load up bit, and shows a still shot from the dvd and the length of running time, and the fast forward, pause, stop etc. bar is on display at the bottom of the screen, it will not actually play the dvd, it just comes up with a black screen. any ideas?
thanks,
alf.

If you don't want to install extra program and use up space... I'll direct you to the codecs to enable WMP to play them.

No problem!
If I were you, I would turn off ALL the file extensions in Windows Media Player
(Tools/Options/Filetypes) and de-select them all.
Then open Classic Media Player and View/Options/Formats
Check them all, except for CD Audio, mp3 & audio file .. unless you don't want to bother at all with WMP (many tech's dont!) In that case leave them all checked, then Classic Player will be used for everything.
Check the auto play boxes on that tab too .. whichever type you wish it to autoplay discs.
