GOOGLE TRAFFIC MAP

on my google homepage, there is a small map on the right hand side which usually shows traffic problems by highlighting affected roads in red. I am clicking on " traffic" but the map stays green. any ideas?

not sure about google but I use www.theaa.com/traffic-news and find that works for me
