What does it mean when a blood pressure reading says the top number is ok but the bottom number is high?

Sorry Hopalong, you've got it the wrong way round.

Isolated systolic hypertension (= top figure high) is a cause for concern as it's usually related to 'furring up' of the arteries.

Isolated diastolic hypertension (= bottom figure high) has been studied and the results show that this is not usually a cause for concern.
