Question Author
door not closing - had to force it shut? door hanging on, middle hinge snapped. side panel behind door, above the front driver side wheel dented in, i feel sick about it Al. doesn't fit when i jammed it shut, but has close sort off, heard something fall like a bit of metal screw or something. It not my car that is why im really worried now, she lent it to me in good will.
Question Author
thanks Al.
OK.
I think the first thing to do is to take it to a local garage to ask if they can fix the door so it's useable (refit hinge, adjust door if poss) Hopefully they can make the pillar correct again. I've done quite a bit of this sort of thing before, and usually this sort of thing can be sorted ok.
Then take it to a local bodyshop .. (ask garage who they think would make a decent job)
It's going to cost a few hundred quid unfortunately to repair/spray .. depending on paint type and extent of damage to the rear panel.
Sorry ou had this trouble .. I'll look to see your other car problem here (if it is here)

Thank you very much Al, i will do that in the morning, my other car trouble has been wrote off, not my fault, just seem to be having bad luck with cars lately. I also phoned insurance, to see if im covered. I would like some help in buying a car in the near future and would be grateful for some advice from you, will post when i see a car i like for your opinion. many thanks again, a really appreciate your help.
Ah yes .. you had that crash .. and all the other stuff .. Not your year!

Ax
No probs.
I'd fix up car if you were round the corner .. workshop empty. Busy though with building stuff. You can get my spare email from Ummmm if you ask her (use her disposable address)

Be careful about claiming .. They might make you suffer with the cover on replacement car. Might be better for your insurance cover to pay out a few hundred out of your own pocket.
Rozia, are you named on her insurance.....?
Question Author
Yep, i am insured on her insurance , it seemed cheaper rather than me hiring a car.
Question Author
Al, what do you mean? suffer in what way? would i need to pay for replacement car?
No ... but they might put up premiums quite a bit on your next cover if you claimed on your insurance in this case ..
Maybe you can work something out with your sis if she has to claim on her insurance for this car (that is if it is covered fully comp when you drive it)
Question Author
sis has took it well, and phoned her insurance company, and told them what happened. They said not to worry we are covered and it wont affect her premiums, and she is protected in this situation. They also told her she is one of several who have called in to inform them of such a thing tonight. I feel better about it now. Thanks x
wow! great news on those few fronts then : )x
Question Author

Again a big thank you to Al for your help, your so very kind, and also thank you for the good vibes annadomino, i will need them. nite nite.xx
the centre hinge is the check strap, sounds like its snapped allowing the door to open all the way which in turn flexes the door pillar and bends the hinges. Panel beaters ( ie body shop guys) have little tweaks/tricks that can realign the hinges allowing the door to shut.
Shame you are not near, i have a panel beater standing around with nothing to do...
