Who should pay the removal costs of these implants, the NHS or the French Company that introduced them?

Mostly the French company - the design is at fault, from what I've heard. The NHS can offer to pay for removal in cases where there is surgical need eg after cancer, etc., but should not be paying for replacement (IMO) where the implants were done for purely cosmetic reasons.
Given the French Co has declared bankruptcy, the insurance cos with their professional indemnity programmes behind the Doctors who chose them .
I didn't know that the company has gone bust DT (no pun originally intended...)

as the company has gone south, surely the french govt. should fork out as the nhs probably would if it was our fault. i sit here shaking my head at my own post as i am typing...x
