depends what is causing it. Keeping it warm can soothe it but you need to find the cause
I agree with woofgang - I look in ears for a living (Hearing Aid Audiologist) and the HAC (hearing aid council) rules are that we have to report to a patients GP if they have had ear ache for 7 consecutive days in the last 90 days. So you would be best waiting for it to pass - but see your doctor if it lasts more than a week
Could be something as simple as hard wax.Try otex ear drops, which should soften the wax. Hope this helps!
if you feel like you have water or something inside your ear go to your GP or walk in centre, I suffer from them often, they give drops that are great, they really help, or get olive oil on a heated spoon and pour in your ear that helps soften wax.
A little slightly warm olive oil dropped into the ear will relieve the pain until you can get to a doctor and won't do any harm.
