I must say I was totally impressed last night when professor Cox explained the fluttering flag on the moon (yawn) when he followed it up with the correct and rather brutal, "if you still think they didn't go to the moon, stop watching now, we don't want you". Got me wondering, are there still people out there who think the moon landings were faked? Are there any abers? what are your reasons?

The conditions in the LHC are created continuously in the upper atmosphere. Black holes are created and dissipated in nano seconds, due to hawking radiation. The LHC is necessary because the detectors cannot be placed in the upper atmosphere.

I will never forget the night in July 1969 we hadn't been married long - we set our alarm clocks to get up in the middle of the night (was it about 3am?) it was so exciting to see it all on our black and white TV at the time, them actually landing on the moon and take the first steps with the iconic words, quite awe inspiring. We've never doubted it.

Re. The younger presenter thing, Dara is younger than Brian, born 1972 as opposed to 1968.

i saw a programme years ago that did a close up of a bit of rock from moom footage and it had writing on, only saw that bit-was probably channel hopping, they said that proves it was fake, but how do we know the bit they showed wasn't faked? I think there will always be doubters...

Mythbusters did a really interesting programme about the moon landings. very interesting stuff and dismisses most of if not all of the theories.

I must admit Dara gets on my nerves with his butting in. I think he takes the subject off track at times. Brian Cox would be better as the sole presenter.

naomi, thank you, i have watched dara and brian before, and then as now wished dara would just disappear, he is a distraction, and too talkative for his own good.

that was a bit disappointing really. good on them for trying, but why waste my viewing time asking some old duffers all about the towns lighting... 'what does it mean to you' etc etc ..... zzzz.

I agree with em10. I think Brian Cox is brilliant and although I have never had an interest in science, I understood most of what he said. Unfortunately, I didn't watch all of the programme on the second night because Dara was getting on my nerves when he kept butting in and I think he was totally superfluous to the programme.
