My daughter has been in Gran Canaria for a week. Temperatures have been 28-29c. Today she says she has a very itchy rash on her chest and arms and cannot sunbathe as it makes it worse. I'm assuming prickly heat. She had something similar on her legs a couple of years ago here in the UK and the pharmacy recommended anti histamine and calamine.
Can anyone recommend something she can get out there from the pharmacy, she is in Playa del Ingles.
Thanks
PS would alcohol aggravate it, this is an early 21st celebration holiday lol.
Tell her to go to the local pharmacy - they are usually so helpful, they speak good English, and will give her medication she needs, she may have to pay but its not as expensive as here.
I asked to speak to a Pharmacist who could speak good English and she spent over 15 mins questioning my husband about the eye infection he had, looked in his eye and gave him drops etc - it cleared up within 2 days - brilliant service.
Thanks Ann I have suggested the local pharmacy, but thought I'd post here as advice is usually very good. Kids eh, soon as there's a little problem it's text mum lol.
Thanks Sqad, Claritadina is that Spanish for Clarityn?
Ann, she's already been to the pharmacy with an eye infection, roll on Sunday when she gets home.
mrs kou always gets this in the sun. she (mrs kou) has found that using certain sun creams make it worse, so she (your daughter) might want to see about that as well.
mrs kou now always uses p20. although it can be a little more expensive than others you do use it sparingly.
its the sun cream and sweat that causes prickly heat as the pores in the skin clog up and swell. The only lotion I'v ever found where I dont get it is piz buin allergy. Even have to use it in english summer.
I've used Piz Buin allergy too for the last 2 years on hoilday (thanks to 4get) and antihistamines and they've helped but I still get prickly heat for the last few days of my holiday. If it's any consolation it disappears within 24 hours of being home!
I used to be plagued with prickly heat, but I started using sun beds for about 3 minutes 3 times a week in the weeks before I went on holiday and for about 7-10 days before I also used a tan accelerator cream and I've been doing this for years now and I haven't had any problems since then. Seldom have sunburn either.
I used to have this problem and was normally helped by taking an anti histamin. Now I only use Piz buin 'oil free' suntan lotion, not the anti allergy one , just oil free. I think any oil free suntan lotion should help though.
