Why musn`t you use wet wipes to clean yourself properly and then flush them down the toilet? What else are you supposed to do with them? Surely the pipes in the sewer are large enough, or is there a filter device down there?
You can get cheap scented bags for disposing of nappies they would work but they do take a long time to degrade. Wet wipes are made of synthetic fibres the alternative is to make up your own strong tissues folded up in a plactic airtight box you can moisten a batch with a dilute solution of antibacterial hand wash and water
Toilet paper disintegrates to cellulose which is biodegradable , wet wipes do not disintegrate they stay whole and clog up the sewage works. Someone at the sewage treatment plant has to rack the non disintegrated stuff out. I have run a treatment plant, raking is not the best job.
Mind you it is a lot easier now that we have 'The Pill' I used to have to spend hours raking out the used condoms , 1,000s of them especially on a Sunday morning !
Condoms also clog up waste systems and filtration plants when they get snagged on all the other rubbish people flush down toilets - wipes, cotton buds, sanitary ware etc. etc.
A biodegradable condom may degrade in use ! not a good idea !
We had a little net on the end of a long pole just to fish out the condoms .
I damn near fell in on a few occasions! that would have made an interesting accident report .
