Having enjoyed the recent Sherlock series, I read that the writer (Mr Moffat) had said that we had all missed the vital clue as to how the erudite sleuth had survived his fall. Does anyone have the vital clue?

well if we all missed it, i doubt it!
i read that the clue was him bouncing the tennis ball in the lab beforehand. something to do with him using it to slow his heart rate down as he fell???
Question Author
Some theories in the Daily Mail !!!!
Sounds ominous
An Alien perhaps!
Molly has slipped him a relaxant, so he takes that, and jumps. Being relaxed, he doesn't die.
Other than that, no bleedin' idea.

The author did kill him off, but there was such a public outcry that he brought him back, or so i read recently, never did care for the stories, but love the new sherlock.
Lots of theories on a previous thread, see if can find it.
some interesting and quite plausible theories

Well I must have missed this clue too coz I've seen it twice now and it still doesn't make sense. If Sherlock did actually fall all the way to the ground and hit the pavement he would be dead there are no relaxants or breathing techniques that could save your skull or internal organs from that impact.
I was going with the idea that some how his fall was broken and the body that hit the ground was possibly Moriarty wearing the mask that scared the little girl. I now think that would have been too elaborate and unconvincing as Moriarty is a lot shorter and totally different colouring and hair type, too much to do in too little time. I don't know how it was done but I hope someone tells us soon before we all drive ourselves loopy.
I think we will have to wait till the next series for that-otherwise,what is the point of such a cliff hanger?
The body had to be Moriarty's didn't it? He jumped too, but after Sherlock jumped there was only one body on the ground. Sherlock must have somehow interrupted his own fall and escaped.
I don't think Moriarty was in any fit state to jump anywhere he'd just blown his own brains out through the back of his skull.
one theory is that neither are dead, that moriarty faked his death, and that Sherlock knew he would, and so the person falling from the hospital building wasn't either of them, but a dead body made to look like sherlock, courtesy of Molly his pathology girl, and all the surrounding people, medics, were friends of hers. I did watch the first time and so not sure either, but it was good all the same. On the other thread there are some very plausible clues and theories.
Apparently steven moffatt has said that it was easy to spot how it was done.
This has all been discussed in the minutest detail, with a very plausible answer, but I can't remember the thread; its to do with the skip standing nearby on the pavement. Anyone?
Oh - I thought he went over the edge. I need to watch the end again then.
he probably used baritsu.
and that sherlock was whisked away in the rubbish cart that was conveniently parked outside the hospital. fun guessing i suppose.
i did post the link above so perhaps have a look at others opinions,
Take a look at the Daily Mail link I supplied above^^^^...there are some interesting ideas there-with Molly's involvement being the most plausible.
I think I will watch it all again later....
