No, and they certainly won't turn you away!! Good for you for being up for it! You will need to do a PGCE in either Junior or secondary which is a year long. If I were you I would do some work experience in a local school in the age/subject you are interested in- just lesson observations. This way you will get more familiar with the curriculum, which looks like it's changing now anyway. You could work as a teacher's assistant too. Primary is longer and more involved, you may have to fo a BEd which is what they did in my day, but I doubt it since you have your degree.
