Can anyone identify the extremely bright and beautiful object I saw at about 17:00 tonight positioned at about 7 o'clock to the moon? It has now unfortunately clouded over in North West England and it's disappeared LOL
TIA

At that time of night, then it is usually, Venus showing as an "evening star", see here http://www.eaae-astro...Shops/VenusOrbit.html
We've been seeing Venus quite clearly here for the past fews days, it's got a slight yellowy hue about it.

Thanks BT!
I also noticed another bright object further away but at about 10 o'clock to the moon. It wasn't flickering like a star so I thought it might be Jupiter.
I can't work out the o'clock to the moon descriptions you are using but Jupiter, as well as Venus, has been the brightest object in the sky for weeks.

Prudie, just imagine the moon as the face of a clock! The object is on a line out from 7 on the face clock!
