My laptop produces a smoke and a burning smell from where the fan seems to be when you connect the charger to it. The charger seems to be working as the green light comes on but the second you connect it to the laptop smoke comes from the side of the laptop and the charger green light changes from a standard green light to an intermittent flashing green light.

The laptop itself has no power at the minute as I can't charge it so its not being used, and has been like that for the past 6 months or so. but before it was doing the smoke thing,(6 months ago) it had a bit of charge to use without needing the charger, but once you put the charger in it would just switch off, the second the charger connected with the laptop.

Anyway, something clealy isn't right but I'm rubbish with computers and don't know what to do...... Does anyone know what this sounds like and know whether its repairable?

Many Thanks

It sounds like the fan is broken causing the laptop to overheat. It is possibly fixable but if it is an old one it may not be worth it.
