In view of this latest kidnapping, would you agree or disagree that it is no longer safe to holiday in Egypt?

I went to Sharm less than a year after the hotel bombings, and even opted to stay at one of the hotels which was hit. It was beautiful and I am glad we went. There was extra security but they seem very pleased with the tourists who had not been put off.

And if you think that is foolhardy, I went to central London less than a month after the Tube bombings.

I would go to Sharm or Hurghada tomorrow, no hesitation.
I`m back at work tonight and have just signed into our intranet to find a message to say we`re not to go out of the hotel in Cairo for the time being. I think that`s more to do with the civil unrest than the kidnapping though.
I would not visit the middle east full stop, I think it is a tinder box ready to blow, I dread to think what the next year will bring with Egypt, Iran, Tunisia, Turkey etc.
If I was taking a holiday in that part of the world it would be safer to go next door to Israel who have wonderful resorts.
Dont go Rov, Israel is surrounded on all sides by countries who want to exterminate them.
Brendan,

Turkey had 31.5million overseas tourists last year, many millions from the UK. It is neither Arab or in the middle east, and is safe.
