My phone and broadband decided to stop working yesterday. Have contacted BT but of course cnnot speak to a hman being. It will cost £130 if the problem is not with their 'kit'! I have tried plugging in other phones but they also don't work. Is there any way I can check if it's my equipment? I also have Sky, does it make any difference that that is still working? Many thnaks for any replies.
If you are with Sky for your phone then it's them you need to contact. I live in Devon and am with Sky and quite a few people are having trouble with their phone lines at the moment. The Sky TV and phone lines are separate things as far as I know.
BT can usually check your phone line for faults if you are phoning from a mobile just give them the land line number you want them to check
Is your SKY plugged into phone line which you can check on your sky services
I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. I have phoned BT from my mobile and there is a fault but they are unable to say if it is with their equipment or mine. I have Sky TV only, my phone and broadband is with BT.
BT allways cover themselves by saying this, from what you have posted it seems like a fault on the line and you wll not be charged, the charge is chargeable if there is a problem inside your premises from the main socket onwards. If you have any doubt check your phone with a friends house , and then borrow their phone to check out your socket. Both the phone and broadband being down points to a line problem too.
