happened at the weekend .hunt lost control of their dogs and pack jumped a private fence and poor little cat paid the price . such a great sport !!

That's horrible. My father used to allow the beagles over his land up to a certain point, until one day they got out of control and came too far. They worried my horse who jumped over the fence and stopped all the traffic on the main road in his terror to escape (he hated dogs). Once he was caught, it was 24 hours before I could get him home, he was so worked up.

Having said that, as a chicken keeper, I just watched that video and was nearly in tears. I am so obsessed by keeping my girls safe and it would break my heart if foxy got them.

Not a fan of hunting but to often see the work of poaching gangs and for sheer callousness they are the worst. Real scum together with the badger diggers and baiters

Foxes are a pest and should be treated as such. However, I do not advocate the way they are killed. They should be culled in a more humane way, perhaps a gamekeeper with a rifle. I am not sure if that would be more humane, but there must be some way rather than tearing them apart. As for the poor cat, I feel really sorry for that. What would happen, I wonder, if the dogs attacked a child? This is highly possible if they will attack small animals.

Excuse this OP, for starbuckone, my sis used Michael Thomas discs for the car/cd player....extremely good but not cheap. She is willing to arrange a down load when she gets back from the States if that helps....

I thought hunting with dogs was banned! It's just an excuse for a jolly. The unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible (oscar Wilde). If foxes are a nuisance then deal with them humanely. After all they are just doing what comes naturally to them!

I think the hounds are starved for too long before a hunt. I heard them opposite my house a few weeks ago and the baying is the most awful thing I've ever heard. I was told not to go near (I was sure they had a fox) or they would attack me - it was ghastly. Poor cat didn't stand a chance, what a terrible death.

As for foxes in chicken coops, the new plastic omlet range are fantastic - my neighbour has had his chickens for years without any problems plus his garden is securely fenced.

foxes have had as much practice getting into pens as we have had keeping them out. As for hunting being banned, really. The only reason the new ineffective law came about is that no one thought it would get through until it was too late. IMHO hunting is better than trapping and poisoning. Don't have the same opinion on stag hunting though.

If hunts wanted quick kills they would choose fast running dogs.

Instead they choose a breed which is slow but with immense stamina, to prolong the 'fun'.

It is a barbaric practice.

And how would you control fast running dogs? These slow running dogs got out of control so what difference would fast ones make? Also, shooting isnt any better as there aren't enough gamekeepers (why gamekeepers and who is going to pay for them?) all a farmer is bothered about is getting rid. They won't ensure a clean kill, at least dogs do it quick
