Spent the afternoon in a large M&S store and I can honestly say there was not ONE item of clothing I liked - the Spring fashion is absolutely vile! Lots of boring clothes in jazzy stripes/ huge patterns/ zig-zags etc all in mis-matching lurid colours. I understand its the new spring trend, but on my way round, I heard lots of people complaining and saying non-complimentary remarks. Even the normally stylish Per Una and Autograph ranges were the same, not worth looking at and very expensive. My friend and I think Marks have completely lost their way. Will be interesting to see what others think. PS Don't women wear skirts anymore? Hardly any about!

Anyway I was pleased, it certainly saved me some money! :)
You could have gone to their Food Hall and spent it.

Yes give up, I did - but only bought a few things including some very nice flowers all half price, left over from Valentines Day yesterday!
it is like entering an early learning centre with all the colour. some of the clothes look foul....and will only look good on stick thin people. just because victoria beckham designed some good dresses (again for skinny minnies), it does not mean the rest of us should have to put up with it. i started to feel queasy after a while and left! x

Icg - I said the very same thing to my friend "Gosh, all these horrid patterns are making me dizzy, I feel sea sick!!"
I entirely agree! Went to M & S the other day with OH and the first thing I saw was a dress with red, black and lime green stripes - it was horrid! There was even a skirt to match.
Watched Lorraine show this morning and Mark Heyes had floral outfits which looked awful on the size 8 model never mind a size 14 normal person! I would resemble a pair of partly pulled curtains!!!
Question Author
My friend watched the Lorraine programme and said none of the clothes looked nice.
I had a browse!......didn't like a thing!.........overpriced, and not very stylish at all!......didn't buy anything!..........

So glad everyone agrees with me - began to think I'm turning into an old frump!! ;)
If you are not a frump, what were you doing in M&S in the first place?
Question Author
Hey Hoppy - its not all frumpy you know, Per Una and Autograph stuff is usually very good but it depends how old YOU are I suppose ;)
Sorry, I was just being a bit silly.

I didn't mean to offend.

I'll get me coat.
Question Author
What - the coat you bought from Marks and Sparks Hoppy? ;)
Asda actually :(
Question Author
Not from cheapo frumpy ASDA?????? Really ?????? :)
I had a problem with M &S a couple of years ago as when I went in everything seemed to be a shade of poo taupe, brown tan, bile yellow, or sludgy mud... I love bright colours I think I might go have a look... and as for the pattern thing its how you wear them.. I have stuff with bold patterns but under a plain long cardi with the right accessories they can be quite flattering

Ann if you like skirts try Bon Marche... I know they are a bit old lady but they had lovely plain linen ones last year and the spring stuff is just coming in.
Question Author
Thanks Rowan - I don't really like Bonne Marche as it is a tad grannyish for me !! but our BM shop is closing down, as I think they all are, gone bankrupt! I really like Matalan - the "Soon" and "Be Beau" ranges are very nice and stylish at a good price.
